Are you passionate about breaking down barriers for your students, but unsure how to put thought into action? This workshop will give you real life examples of how to get the most out of online learning innovations and a variety of technological tools, in order to implement flexible learning pathways for your students. Break down geographical and logistical barriers, making education more accessible to a wider audience - make the learning experience interactive and fun!

Workshop outcomes

By the end of this session participants will have explored innovative approaches to online learning; examined tailored learning experiences based on individual needs, career goals, and schedules; and learned how to break down geographical and logistical barriers to make education more accessible to a wider audience. This will be done through examples of online and hybrid approaches to learning, as well as examples of how to incorporate technology and tools to enhance interactivity and enjoyment in learning.

Presenters

Sarah-Jayne McAndrew is a Program Developer at the Professional Studies and Industry Training (ProSIT) Department of Camosun College. Being a multifaceted educator with an eclectic mix of experience during her 20 years in post-secondary education, Sarah has witnessed changes in learning and adopted different methodologies of flexible learning over the years. From teaching to curriculum development, she champions inclusivity and quality assurance while advocating for mental health awareness. In each role, Sarah-Jayne leaves a lasting mark, embodying empathy, innovation, and advocacy in education.

Nihit Sharma is a Business Development and Contract Training Specialist at the Professional Studies and Industry Training (ProSIT) Department of Camosun College. Prior to working for ProSIT, Nihit worked internationally in admissions, marketing, and business solutions. This varied background proved to Nihit that there is always more than one way to get a task done, and that by designing processes with flexibility in mind, institutions are able to manage not only the evolving needs of the students, but themselves.
